How You Can Help

Is every family our own?

Most of us want to make a difference. We want to be a positive influence in the lives of our families, friends, co-workers and customers. But what about those beyond our own sphere of influence? Do we want to help those we don’t even know? After all, taking good care of our own world is difficult enough.

photoThe nightly news provides daily reminders of how frightening and uncaring our world can be. Many of us now recognize that helping ‘strangers’ helps our loved ones, too. Especially when we help those who will share the future with our children. That’s why ultimately, all families are our own. If we don’t care for them all, we’re failing our own and the world they will inherit. Will their world be populated by people who have a reasonable chance to succeed? Or will it sink under the weight of fear, illiteracy, poverty and crime? It’s the choice we all have to make.

To help us protect all of our children and their families, we at Family and Children’s Services of Central New Jersey, a highly effective not-for-profit social service agency, are asking for both individual and corporate support to join us in the fight for a brighter future.

Can you volunteer your time as a mentor? Can you help with our annual Friends campaign?

Can you make a monetary contribution - or list us as the beneficiary of your company’s charitable contributions?

Whatever form your support takes, the entire community will benefit from the stability our programs create. Stable families make for stable neighborhoods - the core of New Jersey’s strength. Our programs have unprecedented success in strengthening the community. But funding for many of our programs are at risk in these challenging times. Please help. This is a good investment, one you or your company can proudly support. For more information contact Linda Dessandre at (609) 924-2098 or e-mail at .

Ways To Donate:

Annual Friends Campaign

This year, when you sit down to write a check to a non-profit organization, we hope that you will consider a gift to Family and Children’s Services of Central New Jersey. Last year, more than 2100 families received treatment and intervention services, and that figure is expected to increase this year. We reach individuals who are combating mental health and relationship issues. We mentor children and their families in crisis. We connect with the under-served elderly and work with those individuals overcoming substance abuse. We offer a variety of prevention programs aimed at strengthening families before problems surface, but should they surface (as they often do) we also provide intensive in-home counseling for families in which child abuse and neglect have been identified by the state.

Many of our programs are dependent upon contributions from individual donors. Please know that whatever you can afford to give your dollars will be put to work immediately and directed to help children and their families.

Tribute & Memorial Program

Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or other celebrations are a perfect time to honor loved ones with tribute cards. For a donation of $25 or more, we will send the recipient a beautiful acknowledgement card in your name. Memorial cards are also available to remember a departed friend or family member. It’s a wonderful way to show your support of Family and Children’s Services of Central New Jersey, and pay tribute to others. For more information, contact Linda Dessandre at (609) 924-2098 or e-mail at .

"Adopt a Family" through the Princeton Holiday Fund

We see it in their faces and hear it in their voices. For many parents and grandparents, the struggle to provide for their families basic necessities throughout the year sharply intensifies at the holiday season and leaves little room for any of the extras enjoyed by those more fortunate.Although Family and Children’s Services of Central New Jersey, Inc. works with many families who are struggling, each November we strive to assist those most in need. For many years, our agency was able to answer almost all requests for Holliday Food Baskets through our staffs’ personal donations and, in some cases, by referring families to other organizations. When the need grew beyond what we could do alone, we established the Adopt A Family program. We invite individuals, families, businesses, schools, service groups, and other organizations to share the spirit of the holidays by meeting the needs of a designated family. Typically, this personalized donation includes nonperishable food, new toys, gifts, clothing, household necessities, and gift certificates. Out of respect for the dignity and privacy of our families, we cannot disclose identifying information, but we can share their story and wish list - as well as their heartfelt gratitude. For those who cannot adopt a family, individual toys and gifts are always welcomed and needed.

Every gift is an expression of caring that brings joy and hope to both the giver and the recipient. To learn more please contact Carol Sindone at (732) 545-0366 ext. or e-mail at .
